The actual question in the photo is what is the white patina on the hydrangeas and what to do about it?
White patches on hydrangea leaves are a sign of infestation by fungi of the genus ErysÃphe, Latin ErysÃphe. As colonies develop and spores mature, droplets of dew-like liquid appear on the leaves, on top of the powdery layer. This is what gives the disease its name, powdery mildew. Leaves, shoots, flowers sick plant deform, dry up, the flower lags in growth, loses its decorativeness.
