The composition and principle of action of Maxim

The active ingredient of the fungicide Maxim is fludioxonil. It is similar to the natural antibiotic with antifungal properties pyrronitrin. The compound is synthesized in the laboratory and belongs to the chemical class of phenylpyrroles. Like its natural analogue, the substance has antimycotic action, effectively protects planting material from fungal diseases and disinfects the soil on the plot.

Maxim works as a contact-protective fungicide. When getting on the cell of pathogenic microorganism it disrupts its metabolic processes and inhibits its respiration, slows down growth of mycelium, and causes disruption of cell membrane formation and its functions. It forms a protective film on the surface.

It is available as a concentrated suspension.

Even though the instructions do not allow using \"Maxim\" on vegetable crops, many gardeners use a solution of 20 ml of the product and 20 liters of water to water about 10 square meters of plants under the root.

Fungicide \"Maxim\" can be used for home draining of vegetable seeds. This will give them growth strength and protect them from various diseases, such as blackleg. To do this, 3-4 drops of the drug are added to 3 tbsp. spoonfuls of diluted cowpea. In the mixture add 1 g each of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. The mixture is poured into a jar and throw in 20-30 seeds. The mixture is shaken several times. The seeds are then placed in a single row and powdered with mashed peat, sprayed with water, turned over and powdered again.

To protect flowers from fungal infestations, the soil in which they will grow is treated with Maxim fungicide solution. This procedure is recommended when there is a threat of infection or when transplanting sick flowers.

Although the fungicide is designed for seeds, tubers, root crops and dormant rhizomes, as a last resort it can also be used to protect flower roots. To treat them, dilute 2 ml of the drug in 1 liter of water. Roots of flowers, including orchids and roses, are treated with the sprayer.

We must remember that many pathogens live in the soil. For the spraying of the roots to be effective, it must also be treated with Maxim fungicide.

If a small volume of a working solution is required to spill potting soil or orchid substrate, then 3-4 drops of fungicide are dissolved in 200 ml of water.

For bulb flowers the solution is applied just before planting in the soil. Dilute 2 ml of the product in 1 liter of water and soak bulbs or corms in it.

Отзывы

Между plant breeders do not cease to argue about the use of the fungicide Maxim. Many people describe it as a product suitable only for dressing seeds, tubers, root crops, and bulbs. Fans of tulips, hyacinths, lilies, gladioluses, and dahlias strongly recommend treating planting material with Maxim fungicide when putting them in winter storage.

To improve protection of flowers and other plants from all kinds of fungal lesions, spilling the soil before planting seedlings or sowing seeds also helps.

Two opposite reviews also occur. Some say it is completely unsuitable for spraying the roots and vegetative parts of plants. After all, even after such treatment, the bush or seedling gets into the infected soil and spraying is at least useless. Others find this treatment quite acceptable and effective, especially if it is combined with a soil treatment.
